It is a beautiful tea set–china given to us by a church in Belfast, Ireland! I couldn’t have imagined this would be an open door to revelation regarding eternal relationships! I’ve always collected teacups in my adult life, but they’ve sat in a china cabinet for the occasional viewer, followed by the stories of how each one was acquired. Several times I wondered if there couldn’t be a greater purpose for these beautiful pieces of china. I experimented a few times using the teacups with my granddaughters or young women in our church that I mentor. We would discuss their concerns and I would encourage and download things the Lord was speaking to me for them. They seemed to enjoy the “tea time” as their generation for the most part rarely stops for an occasion such as this. Then our 50th Anniversary trip to Europe was planned for the spring…

Psalm 33 from The Voice Bible

Vs. 1 “Release your heart’s joy in sweet music to the Eternal… When the upright passionately sing glory-filled songs to him, everything is in its right place.”

I love to come into my house after my friend Fran cleans it. Everything smells so good and looks so nice. My heart is happy and I am at peace. I’m not looking around thinking, “I need to do this or that.” I simply enjoy the clean house where everything is in its place.

Psalms 33 is saying the same about our spirit, soul and body. When we sing glorious praise to him it cleanses our heart and brings our spirit into worship. All is in it’s right place.

Write awe-filled songs to Him…Sing and play them the best you can! Don’t be afraid to be bold with your joyful feelings!

God created us with emotion, and he longs for us to use those emotions as a release toward him in worship and praise. In other words as the song says, “Let it go!”

As I continue to read this Psalm I feel the emotion of awe rising in me and it propels me toward expressive worship.

That means simply allowing the tears to flow, laughing out loud or releasing a big ‘whoop!’

Vs. 6. “The unfathomable cosmos came into being at the word of the Eternal’s imagination, a solitary voice in endless darkness.” Whoa!

“The breath of His mouth whispered the sea of stars into existence.”

imagesDo you sense the magnitude of those words. As I meditate on the greatness of our magnificent Creator, I stand in open-mouthed, reverential silence. “He whispered the stars in place.” Close your eyes and imagine watching that moment in time. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg can’t even come close.

Vs 7. “He gathers every drop of every ocean as in a jar.”

pelican-flying-over-the-oceans-surfHave you stood by an ocean lately? The breakers crashing down; water as far as the eye can see. Yet, he holds it all as if in a jar. Too big for me to even think or imagine.

Vs. 9.“He spoke and all creation obeyed and stood its ground.

All of creation stood at attention! The trees were still; the birds ceased flying; lions and polar bears paused and looked up. Even the fish and whale stopped. Everything came to a standstill in wonder and amazement.

We need to stop and stand at attention for a moment. Breathe in His majesty and glory. Stand in awe for one moment and allow your spirit to soar with the stars or gaze in obedient wonder and amazement at the King of the universe; in honor and admiration of the Sovereign Majesty Himself.

He cripples the schemes of Nations.

He impedes the plans of people.

His purposes will last.

He will stir the generations.

Listen, the eye of the Eternal is upon those who live in awe of Him, those who hope in His steadfast love, that He may save them from the darkness of the grave and be kept alive during the lean seasons.”

“Our hearts erupt with joy in Him because we trust in His Holy Name. O Eternal, drench us with your endless love, even now as we wait for you!”

Enough said.

Listen for the Song

This morning I read Psalm 32:7. “He envelops me with songs that remind me I am free.”(The Voice Bible) He sings songs of deliverance over us!  The enemy has a voice that rings inside of our heads. His voice hisses, harsh and accusing. And most of the time, unfortunately, that is the voice to which we listen, bringing shame and condemnation to our soul.

We forget to listen for the song! The song from our loving Father who sings:

“I saw you when you smiled at that homeless man, and I smiled too.”

“I saw you when you closed your eyes and felt the wind on your face. I sent the wind.”

“I saw you when you took the casserole, worshiped me in the assembly, helped the child at Walmart find his mama. And I winked and nodded my head. I listened to your prayer for a friend with cancer. And I responded with healing.”

“I heard you speak kindly to your husband when you wanted to scream. And I laughed!”

“ I watched you navigate the raging storm and I sent my overwhelming peace in the center of the whirlwind”

“I am so glad you are my daughter! You are lovely, you are mine! I will protect you and keep you. I will help you. I will hide you in the shadow of my wing. I love you.”

That is His song! His song of love, forgiveness, healing. Always redeeming! Convicting? Yes. Condemning? Never!

Today choose to close your ears to the rasping, incriminating murmurs of the enemy of your soul. Go deeper into your spirit to hear the melodious sound of your Father’s gentle whisper.

As we listen for His songs of deliverance, we are reminded that truly we are free, and He loves us with a relentless, extravagant love. It is then that we can sing His song to others, freely giving what we have freely received.

Listen for the song!
